A Day in the Life of Mawuse Akpo: Conveyancing Assistant

A Day in the Life of Mawuse Akpo: Conveyancing Assistant

This week (20th-24th March 2023) marks the first-ever National Conveyancing Week in the UK. With that, Bookers & Bolton are giving you an insight into a typical day for each of our conveyancing staff.

What does a typical day look like?

I start off my days mostly with my emails or any tasks I had left to resolve from the previous day. I then get started with any tasks which are urgent or need to be resolved and completed that particular day. My mornings lately consist of chasing lenders for updates as we like to do all we can to speed up the conveyancing process for our clients. During my lunch break, I go for my daily walk to ensure I have made enough daily steps to keep healthy and active. Most days, we have a team meeting to discuss our files but also to catch up; our team is entirely female, so we love to do that!

What do you enjoy most about your job?

As a Conveyancing Assistant, I enjoy my daily job as it consists of a variety of things from administrative tasks to speaking to clients and giving them quotes and managing my own files. I enjoy this as it gives me a sense of responsibility and makes me feel like I am constantly improving.

I enjoy working at Bookers & Bolton as they care about their employees, not only about work performance but also their physical and mental health.

I particularly like working on property sales and helping people enter the next stage of their lives.

What are the benefits of remote working?

In the past, I have worked both remotely and in the office. Working from home is a lot better for me because we always keep in touch with the team and have meetings every other day, so you do not feel isolated and out of touch with your colleagues. Knowing this firm is so accommodating to everyone’s different home situations reassures me that if anything might change in life, Bookers & Bolton can accommodate. I have also enjoyed working remotely as I can concentrate better in my own space. At this firm, it is encouraged to take breaks throughout the day to make sure we do our job to the best of our ability.
