March 2026 marks National Conveyancing Month, a time to recognise law firms for more than just legal expertise. It is also an opportunity to recognise the wider role law firms play in their communities.
Following our week 1 article, ‘National Conveyancing Month 2026 – The Importance of The Right Legal Support’, our week 2 coverage of the campaign focuses on charity and community efforts, something that resonates strongly with us at Bookers & Bolton.
For over a century, our law firm has been part of the Alton community. Throughout the years, our dedicated legal teams have supported generations of families and businesses with everything from property transactions, Wills, and estate planning to family and commercial law matters. However, we recognise that being a local firm means more than providing legal advice. It also means supporting the people and organisations that help our community thrive.
In this blog, and in support of the National Conveyancing Month’s Week 2 focus: Leading with Purpose – Charity Initiatives that Inspire, our conveyancing team highlights some of the local charities we have been proud to support.
Bookers & Bolton Solicitors in the Community
Community has always been at the heart of what we do at Bookers & Bolton Solicitors.
We have dedicated employees who regularly raise money for their own charities, as well as helping a wide range of organisations that provide support across Alton and the surrounding area. Among the organisations we are proud to support are:
- Alton Community Cupboard – An initiative which is run entirely by volunteers who rescue food from supermarkets and share it with the community. This helps the environment and those who are living in food poverty – a win-win! It now has a shop based in Westbrooke Walk in Alton. We provide free legal advice, printing and other support. Our Senior Partner, Gideon Cristofoli, and Practice Manager, Paula Langley, are both avid supporters.
- Centrepoint – We support Centrepoint by sponsoring a room each year. They provide homeless young people with accommodation, health support, and life skills in order to get them back into education, training and employment. They want to end homelessness by 2037. We believe that all young people deserve a good start in life and understand that this isn’t always the case. Our Practice Manager, Paula Langley, was previously Head of Special Needs in secondary education and has witnessed firsthand the way young lives can be affected by situations beyond their control. If we can help support young people into a healthy and productive life, then we can help them build a great future. This has an impact, not only on that individual, but on society as a whole, with a reduction in youth offending rates, mental health issues and suicide.
- Happy Days for Everyone – It all started in 2018 when founders, Brandon Block, Michelle Allan and Gaynor Murphy met and discussed their everyday problems. All in their 40s, the one thing they all had in common was the desire to be happier. Bringing together decades of experience in the entertainment, wellbeing and education industries, Happy Days for Everyone was born. Our Senior Partner, Gideon Cristofoli, is a trustee for this charity whose mission is to empower people to grow their own happiness from within. He provides free legal advice and support to the team.
- Pure Sea – Founded by Lisa Good, this charity works to clean up our seas and waterways, whilst promoting the dangers of rubbish and plastics that end up in the oceans. Both our Practice Manager, Paula Langley and Senior Partner, Gideon Cristofoli, are avid supporters and often help out with litter picks and beach cleans. Gideon is a keen surfer, and Paula has a love of wildlife photography, so both understand the need to protect our oceans. Gideon provides free legal advice and support.
- Twirl Versity – We were delighted to sponsor Alton-based sisters Abbie and Emily White in their bid to represent England in the baton-twirling European Cup in Croatia in July 2024. The pair are part of local club Twirl-Versity Baton Twirlers, where they have been twirling for the past three years. As the sport is entirely self-funded, Abbie and Emily needed to raise funds to enable them to follow their dream of representing their country by looking for sponsorship. We were delighted to support the sisters on their journey.

We also distribute donations to many local charities using SRA-regulated funds from unclaimed sources. These donations provided a real boost to organisations doing important work in our community.

Why Community Matters to a Local Law Firm
Working in a local law firm gives us a unique perspective on the communities we serve, and our commitment to supporting the local area reflects the values that have guided our firm since 1893.
We see first-hand the impact that strong local organisations can have, from supporting vulnerable residents to helping young people build confidence and provide opportunities. These groups often rely on volunteers, donations, and local support to continue their work.
That sense of community is something we value greatly.
