Last Round of the Winter Championship
24/02/18
An eventful end to a new challenge, being my first Junior Rotax championship. It started off a cold day but we did well in timed qualifying to finish 5th.
In the first heat, a few of us would come together to end up in a first corner crash. Luckily I recovered and managed to finish the race in 7th place.
I made a good start in the pre-final and managed to gain ground to finish in 5th place. This meant I would start 5th for the main final.
I held fifth for most of the final race until a collision with another driver caused my kart some damage. I still managed to bring it home in 6th.
Overall it has been a good winter for us, finishing 5th in our first Junior Max Winter Championship out of 18 competitors, resulting in another trophy as well as having a podium finish in the 2nd round of the Winter Championship. This has all been good experience in preparing for the 2018 season in the Junior Rotax Class.
We race at Forest Edge Kart Club on Sunday, which is sure to be very competitive but none the less exciting and good fun. We have our engine in for a rebuild this month so will be hoping for improved performance!
I am so glad you have sent me some new tyres and stickers for my new kart.
Best wishes

Race Day on 24/3/18
It was to be a wet race day so conditions were sure to be difficult.
Heat 1
I would start 7th. With a great start and a good clean race I managed to climb my way up to 3rd position by the end of the race.
Heat 2
I started 4th. This race would pan out to be slightly more difficult. Despite this, after a good battle with another driver, I would finish 3rd yet again.
Heat 3
For the 3rd and final heat I started pole. However things didn’t go to plan and a lack of race pace meant I would finish 4th.
These heat results meant I would start 4th for the final race of the day.
After losing a place at the start I was eager to get it back so lunged for an overtake. Unfortunately this lunge was not to be one that would work out, and was a risk I took that didn’t end up in my favour. I was spun around and hit by another driver. This dropped me down to 7th position. I carried on going and had really good speed, setting the fastest laps out of everybody, and by the end of the race I climbed my way up to 3rd on track. But another rookie mistake where I locked up my brakes meant I would miss a corner and receive a 1 lap penalty at the end of the race. These are mistakes I now hope not to make again.
I set the fastest lap in the final! Therefore I’m feeling confident for the next round at Camberley Kart Club on the 28th of April. We are also racing at Forest Edge Kart Club which is sure to be exciting for us on May the 6th. It would be great to get some of the Bookers & Bolton staff and clients down to watch on that race day, to see me flying the colours and hopefully achieving some strong results!
Thank you once again for all your kind support.
Best wishes
